IP Address Management (IPAM) helps IT administrators track and manage IP addresses across their computer networks. IPAM integrates with network autodiscovery to maintain accurate documentation of IP addresses, MAC addresses, and DNS infrastructure. Within this framework, you can manage the following:

• VLANs and subnets

• IP to MAC address relationships

• MAC address to switch port connectivity

• IP Network Address Translation (NAT)

Discover IP addresses

Freshservice can discover IP addresses and related information in the following ways:

• Network SNMP discovery: Configure and run SNMP autodiscovery to gather subnets, IP-to-MAC address relationships, and MAC-address-to-switch-port connectivity.

• Autodiscovery client: Use the autodiscovery client to scan Windows, Linux, and UNIX devices on your network to extract their specific IP and MAC address details.

• Ping sweep tool: Use the ping sweep utility to perform regular network scans and keep IP address status information up to date.
