IP NAT/Map functions are used to document routing logic, such as mapping external IP addresses to internal IPs or routing traffic between isolated network segments.

Because NAT configurations are typically defined within hardware firewalls or routers and are not easily identified during standard network scans, you must define these mappings manually in Freshservice.

This article explains how to manually define IP Network Address Translation (NAT) and address maps.

Prerequisites

You need the following before managing IP NAT/MAP records:

  • Access to the IT Asset Management module in your Freshservice instance.

  • Administrator privileges or specific permissions to create and edit IP NAT/MAP records.

Add an IP NAT/Map

To create a new NAT or address map, follow these steps:

  1. Go to IT Asset Management > Inventory > IP NAT and click Add new.

  2. In the Name field, enter a unique name for the mapping.

  3. Define the mapping range in the following fields:

    • Source IP Address Start: Enter the beginning of the source range or click Add new IP Address to select an existing IP.

    • Target IP Address Start: Enter the beginning of the destination range or click Add new IP Address to select an existing IP.

  4. (Optional) Configure additional parameters such as Two way relation, Protocol, Source IP Address End, and so on.

  5. Click Save.
