The device list view serves as the central command center for managing your inventory. Whether you are searching for a specific device, filtering by workspace, or performing bulk updates to tags, the list view streamlines these workflows through a customizable interface.
This article provides an overview of the features available in the device list view, including searching, filtering, and performing bulk administrative tasks.
Prerequisites
You need the following before managing the device list:
Access to the IT Asset Management module in your Freshservice instance.
Administrator privileges to modify, clone, or delete device records.
List view features
To access the list view, go to IT Asset Management > Inventory. From this device list page, you can:
Create or Clone: Start a new device record from scratch or duplicate an existing one to save time.
Search: Find assets using partial or exact matches for device names and aliases.
Advanced Filter: Use the Advanced filter option to execute SQL-like queries for complex data retrieval.
Organize Columns: Click the Edit icon to modify the default column layout or create entirely new views. You can also resize columns by dragging the edge of a header.
Customize filters
To add additional filters, follow these steps:
On the device list page, click the Filter icon button.
In the Basic Filter tab that opens, click inside the search box to view a list of available options.
Select the required options and click Done.
The selected filters will now appear as active options in the Basic Filter tab.
Note: When using Advanced Filter with SQL-like queries, ensure your syntax is correct to avoid broad results that may slow down page loading for very large inventories.
Customize device page’s view
Custom views are unique to your user profile, allowing you to maintain a personalized workspace without affecting other team members.
To customize the columns displayed on the device list page, follow these steps:
On the device list page, click the Edit (pencil) icon located at the far right of the column headers.
In the Customize Columns window that opens, select or deselect the checkboxes to show or hide specific columns.
Drag and drop the column names to reorder them according to your requirements.
Click Update to save your changes.
Perform bulk actions
You can perform tasks on multiple assets simultaneously from the device list page:
Select the checkboxes for the devices you wish to modify.
Click the More options icon (three vertical dots) and choose an action.
To manage metadata, select Add tags to selected items or Remove tags from selected items.
In the search box, begin typing to find and select the specific tags you wish to apply or remove.
Click the confirmation button to apply the changes across all selected records.
Note: Always verify the number of selected items before performing a bulk action, especially when deleting or reclassifying assets, as these actions can have significant impacts on your data.
