Add device parts

Hardware parts in Freshservice represent the individual components within a device, such as power supplies, memory modules, or line cards. By tracking these parts at the device level, you can maintain a granular inventory of your hardware and manage spare part rotations effectively. 

This article provides an overview of how to view and manage individual hardware parts assigned to a specific device. It includes information on navigating the Information tab and accessing expanded part lists for inventory management.

Prerequisites

You need the following before managing device parts:

  • Access to the IT Asset Management module in your Freshservice instance.

  • Administrator privileges or permissions to view device and part records.


View device parts

  1. Go to IT Asset Management > Inventory from the left navigation pane.

  2. Click the device record you want to view.

  3. In the Information tab, under the Hardware and Network section, select Parts.

Add part details

To associate hardware parts with a device, follow these steps:

  1. On the device record page, click Edit in the upper-right corner.

  2. In the Information tab, go to the Parts section and click + Add New.

  3. Enter the required details.

  4. Click Update to save the changes.

Each part model in the Parts section links to its specific part record. This allows you to track serial numbers for individual components within the chassis.
