Sizing recommendation to help provision your Remote Collectors and Windows Discovery Service. The sizing requirements depend on the size of the environment and the features used.

Note: Available only for new signups after the 31 March, 2026 release. If you signed up earlier, refer to the existing ITAM documentation.

Different discoveries use different ports, you should only open the needed ports from the RC to the targets.

Asset Management components

Sizing and Notes

Remote Collector(s)

One RC per 1000 workloads:

  • Two vCPU

  • 4GB RAM

  • 50GB vDisk

Windows Discovery Service

One WDS per 1000 workloads:

  • Two vCPU

  • 8GB RAM

  • 50GB vDisk (minimum)

Note: To maintain system stability and performance within your environment, we recommend the following:

  • Use a dedicated resource pool for the virtual appliance to ensure consistent availability and to prevent resource contention.

  • We recommend using Solid-state Storage (SSD) or similar storage optimized for high-performance database operations.

  • For organizations with Windows infrastructure, we recommend installing one WDS instance on a machine for each discovery segment or Remote Collector to ensure comprehensive scanning.

  • Monitor the resource usage of the RCs during peak scan times to see if more resources are needed. Set scans on a single RC to occur and start at different times, this balances the process.
