The types of status pages based on privacy levels
Status Page in Freshservice can be of two types – Private and Public. Each of these can be combined with IP range restrictions to create a combination that best suits your requirements. Refer to the table below to understand each combination, listed in increasing order of security, and then choose a setting to proceed with.
Step 1: Select the Status Page type
Select the Status Page type i.e. Public or Private. A Public Status Page will not require a login policy, but a private Status Page does.
Step 2: Select the login policy for the private Status Page
If you have chosen to create a private status page, you will need to secure it by setting up a login policy. Freshservice offers several options for setting up login policy:
Freshworks login: This is the default policy configured in your Freshworks organization. Learn more.
Passwordless login: Enable your users to sign in using a link that they receive in their inbox. Learn more.
Single Sign On (SSO): This mode is available to internal users of your organization. Users can either use Freshworks’ login or third party SSO to secure their private status page.
Email magic link: This option is to be used for making the status page accessible to subscribers outside of your organization.
If you are an organization admin, you can also create a custom login policy which could be a combination of Freshworks login, SSO, Google social login and password less login. Learn more.

Step 3: Set up IP address restrictions for private and public status pages (optional)
You can further enhance the security of a private status page by specifying the acceptable IP ranges from which a request can be accepted. Freshservice enables you to define up to 50 IP ranges. To proceed, enable the toggle and list the IP ranges.
