To ensure you experience the enhanced capabilities of the revamped Sandbox in Freshservice, we will be deprecating the current version of Sandbox by Nov 5th, 2024.
We will now freeze the sandbox expiration date at the account level. This will either be November 5th or the farthest expiration date.
Deprecation for Sandboxes expiring before November 5th
- Deprecation Date: Any Sandbox with an expiration date before November 5th will be deprecated on November 5th.
Note: Any sandbox created before November 5th, will also expire on November 5th. For example, if your sandbox expires on November 4th and you create a new one, the new sandbox will also expire on November 5th. You’ll see a warning message before creating the sandbox.
Deprecation for Sandboxes expiring after November 5th
Deprecation Date: For accounts with sandboxes expiring after November 5th, the deprecation will be based on the farthest expiration date among your existing sandboxes.
For example, if you have sandboxes expiring on November 30th and December 15th, and you create a new sandbox on November 1st, the new sandbox will adopt the farthest expiration date (i.e., December 15th), rather than 180 days from its creation.
No new Sandboxes after November 5th: After November 5th, you will not be able to create new sandboxes in other workspaces.
How do I know if I am using the current version of Sandbox?
If you see the below screen on your Sandbox page, you are on the current version of Sandbox.
If you see the below screen on your Sandbox page, you are on the revamped version of Sandbox.
How long can I use the current version of Sandbox?
The current version of Sandbox will continue to function till Nov 5th, 2024. Support will be limited, i.e., no new enhancements, bug fixes, or extension requests will be taken. However, sync issues (if any) will be supported.
What will change after this deprecation?
All sandboxes created using the current version will be destroyed on Nov 5th, 2024.
Who will be impacted by this deprecation?
You will be impacted if you have an active Sandbox created using the current version on or before Nov 5th, 2024.
What should you do?
If you have an active Sandbox that belongs to the current version, you can destroy or sync it to enable the revamped Sandbox version in your account.
For example, If your account has Sandboxes across three workspaces (Global, IT, and HR), destroy or sync all of them to access the revamped version.
Here are a few sample scenarios for customers with active Sandboxes that belong to the current version:
Say an account has three workspaces (Global, IT, and HR) and active Sandboxes for the Global and IT workspaces with expiry dates Aug 31st and Sep 30th, respectively.
Scenario 1: The user syncs Sandboxes from both the workspaces on Aug 10th.
The revamped version will be enabled once the Sandboxes are synced on August 10th.
Scenario 2: The user doesn’t sync, allowing Sandboxes to be destroyed on Aug 31st and Sep 30th, respectively
The revamped version will be enabled on Sep 30th, after the last active Sandbox is destroyed.
Scenario 3: The user syncs the Sandbox in the Global workspace on Aug 10th and recreates a Sandbox for the Global workspace on Aug 11th (without syncing the IT Sandbox).
The Sandbox in the Global workspace will expire on Nov 5th and not six months from Aug 11th.
Note: Regardless of all scenarios, all Sandboxes that belong to the current version will be phased out by Nov 5th, 2024.
