Freshservice allows you to customize the visual representation of racks through global settings. You can modify how rack unit numbers are displayed in relation to the U’s, as well as set default capacity and temperature thresholds for visual layouts and heatmaps.

This article provides instructions on configuring rack layout options, specifically how to manage rack unit numbering displays and configure threshold values for visual heatmaps.

Prerequisites

You need to have administrator privileges to access and manage the Infrastructure module.

Configure rack layout and thresholds

To set whether the starting or ending number is displayed between the U’s, follow these steps:

1. Go to Admin and select Rack settings under the Infrastructure section.

2. Click the Edit button in the top right corner.

3. To configure rack unit numbering layout, under the Rack Number Between U's Option dropdown:

   • Select the End at option to display the slot number of the ending U between the U’s.

   • Select the Start at option to display the slot number of the starting U between the U’s.

4. To configure the minimum rack availability percentages used for color-coding capacity heatmaps, define the minimum rack availability percentages for the following thresholds:

   • Full Rack %: Enter the percentage that should show as red in heatmaps (e.g., 100).

   • Nearly Full Rack %: Enter the percentage that should show as dark orange in heatmaps (e.g., 75).

   • Medium Full Rack %: Enter the percentage that should show as light orange in heatmaps (e.g., 50).

   • Nearly Empty Rack %: Enter the percentage that should show as yellow in heatmaps (e.g., 25).

   • Empty Rack %: Enter the percentage that should show as green in heatmaps (e.g., 0).

5. To configure rack temperature thresholds, enter the minimum temperature values in °F (or in °C if the display temperature is set to Centigrade) for the following:

   • High temperature value: Enter the minimum value that should show as red in temperature heatmaps (e.g., 90.00).

   • Moderate temperature value: Enter the minimum value that should show as yellow in temperature heatmaps (e.g., 75.00).

6. Click Save.
