A blade slot serves as a placeholder for a blade server within a blade chassis. By defining these slots at the hardware model level, you ensure that every physical chassis deployed from that template has the correct number, type, and orientation of slots.
This article provides an overview of how to configure blade slots within hardware models to accurately mirror the physical layout of your server chassis.
Prerequisites
Access to the IT Asset Management module in your Freshservice instance.
Administrator privileges to manage Hardware Models.
Technical specifications of your physical chassis (total slots and orientation).
Create or edit a chassis hardware model
To define the slots for a specific hardware type, follow these steps:
Go to IT Asset Management > Inventory > Hardware Models.
Select an existing model or click Add new to build a new one.
In the Physical Subtype field, choose Rackable (or your preferred physical subtype).
Select the Blade Host/Chassis checkbox to reveal chassis-specific fields.
In the Chassis Blade Slots section, add the number of slots required to match your physical hardware.
Click Save.
