The Software Installations page, located within IT Asset Management > Software, displays the individual instances of each software component discovered or manually added in Freshservice. This page allows you to track specific installations and associate them with the relevant devices.

This article covers how to manually record new software usage, navigate the software installation list, and perform bulk actions.

Add a software in use entry

If you need to record an installation that was not captured by an autodiscovery job, you can add it manually. To add a record, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Software Installations page and click Add new.

  2. Select the software from the Software dropdown menu.

Note: If the component does not exist yet, click Add new Software Model to create a new software component directly from this dialog.

  1. Enter or update the Raw License Count to reflect the licenses consumed by this specific installation.

  2. Select the Device associated with the software.

  3. Click Save.

View and manage software installations

On the Software Installations page, you can filter and sort your installation data to identify specific assets or users:

  • Filter: Use the filter options to narrow the list.

  • Sort: Click the column headers to sort the results by Device.

  • Edit: Click the software name to view the full details of that specific installation or to make manual edits to the record.

Perform bulk actions

You can manage multiple installation records simultaneously on the Software Installations page. To perform a bulk action, follow these steps:

  1. Select the check box for one or more entries in the list.

  2. Choose an action, such as DeleteExport selected items, or Set Custom Field Value.

  3. Confirm the action in the dialog box to apply the changes to all selected entries.
