When a new contact (or requester) is created, they can be automatically associated with a company (or department) based on the domain in their email address. For instance, Cedric Diggory, a new contact whose email address is email@example.com can automatically be associated with the company Hogwarts, based on the hogwarts.edu component of their email address.
To enable such automatic associations,
- Navigate to Admin > User Management > Companies
- Click on the Edit icon next to the company for which you want to create automatic associations
- Scroll down to the "Domains" entry field, and enter the email domains for which users need to be automatically associated with this company. Typing space/enter after the entering the domain would convert it into an entry in the field.
- Scroll up and click "Update" to confirm the change you made.
Every new contact created with an email address containing the domain specified (or an existing contact to which an additional email address is added with the domain) will be automatically associated with the company.
Dissociating a domain from a company will not automatically dissociate all the users with that email domain from the company.
