Freshservice for MSP The Deploy phase contains a series of tasks. In the Deploy phase, you will install and configure:
Remote Collectors (RC): A virtual appliance deployed within specific cloud network segments. It acts as the local scanner that receives instructions from the cloud instance and executes them locally to avoid network bottlenecks.
Windows Discovery Service (WDS): A specialized service used for agentless discovery of Windows-based machines, reporting data back to the RC.
Agents scans: Optionally deployed either on devices like laptops that are not consistently connected to your network or in segmented network environments where agentless discovery is not permitted or possible. The Agent scan can run on Windows, macOS, Linux, and other Unix-based operating systems. For more information, refer to the supported Hypervisors and containers list.
Note: Available only for new signups after the 31 March, 2026 release. If you signed up earlier, refer to the existing ITAM documentation.
Access installation tools
To begin discovering assets, you must deploy the necessary remote collectors within your target network segments.
Go to Admin > Asset Management > Discovery Hub.
Select Remote collectors and agents > External tools > select the required tool.
Download the required components:
Create a RC group and download the Remote Collector (RC)
Install Windows Discovery Service (WDS)
Once the required installation is complete, you can proceed to scan and discover the assets in your network. Refer to Configure Discovery and Autodiscovery Jobs.
