About this integration:


Microsoft Azure enables you to build, run and manage applications across multiple clouds, on-premises and at the edge, with the tools and frameworks of your choice. Integrate with Azure to receive alerts based on monitoring metrics for events and services.

Configuration in Freshservice:


Step 1:

Head to the Admin panel, scroll down to IT Operations Management, and select Monitoring Tools.



Step 2:

You are now on the Monitoring Tools list page. Select Add monitoring tool to add a new integration.




Step 3

You will see a list of pre-configured integrations, the gateway to custom integration using webhooks, and the option to use email as a channel for alerts. Select Microsoft Azure.



Step 4

Get the Endpoint URL and the Auth key for Microsoft Azure by following the integration setup.



Configuration in Microsoft Azure:


  • Creating Monitor:  Login to your Microsoft Azure console. Under Azure Services section, select Monitor


  • Inside the Monitor menu, select the Alerts option from the left navigation bar.

  • In the subsequent Alert Management screen, choose Manage Actions to define the resources and endpoints for which the notifications have to be sent.



  • Under the Basics tab, for every alert define a group of resources which needs to be monitored.



  •  Switch to the Actions tab and choose the Action type as Webhook. Click on the pencil icon next to the dropdown to configure integration end-points to which the alerts have to be posted. Enable the common alert schema to receive the payload in JSON format.




  • Switch to Alert rules section to configure rules for what alerts to be triggered.

  • Create a New Alert rule by selecting the resource that needs to be monitored.


  • Specify the conditions, in terms of threshold value,  from the list of resources for which resource - notifications have to be sent.

  • Once the conditions are configured, map this alert rule to the corresponding action group. Choose the action group for which endpoint mapping was configured previously.


     

  • Configure Notification severity: In the next section, specify the notification severity. All alert notifications will be sent out with this pre-configured severity value.


  • Whenever an alert rule is triggered, from the dashboard, one will be able to identify the number of alerts triggered classified by their severity level.
