Set up personalized shift reminders to receive timely notifications ahead of your on-call schedule. Freshservice offers personalization to ensure that reminders are sent in a channel and at a time of your preference ahead of an impending on-call schedule.

Shift reminders for on-call schedules can be configured at two levels:


Admin Level

An Admin can set automatic reminders to let their team know when their on-call shift is about to start. If you are an admin, here’s how you can set up reminders for your team.

  1. Go to Admin Settings > Global Settings > On-call schedules and select the schedules of choice for which you would like to configure reminders. 


  2. Go to an on call schedule of your choice and click the  to edit an existing shift.



  3. Go to the Shift Reminders tab and set the time before the start of a shift when a reminder is to be triggered. This reminder is sent to all members of the team that are added to the on-call schedule.

  4. Select the override agent settings to ignore reminder settings set by the agent and align them to your settings. Click Update Shift for the changes to take effect.



Agent level

The shift reminders at the agent level will be enabled only if the Administrator lets them. When enabled, Agents can not set reminders. Reach out to your admin if you wish to configure personalized notifications for your on-call schedules. Here’s how you can personalize them:

  1. Click the profile icon and go to Profile Settings.


  2. Go to On-call settings. This section allows you to configure your shift reminders.

  3. Click the drop down next to an on-call schedule of your choice and select the number of hours before which you wish to receive a notification. 

  4. Click . The new reminder settings take effect.
