Freshservice is making changes to the asset type structure by consolidating compute across Cloud and Hardware hierarchies to ensure consistency with the Device42 model and to minimize reconciliation issues.

All cloud compute resources, including Virtual Machines, Hosts, K8s Nodes, and their respective subtypes (such as AWS VM, Azure VM, VMware vCenter Host, etc.), will now be consolidated under the Hardware-Computer hierarchy. This alignment with the Device42 device model streamlines reporting and workflows, making it easier to manage all compute resources within a unified structure.


Here’s how this impacts you:

  • Impact on Workflows and Reports: If you have workflows or reports based on cloud asset types, please update them before December 4 to reflect the new structure. This is a one-time activity.
  • No Changes to Associations or Activities: All existing associations, relationships, and activities will remain unaffected.


As a result, all compute resources currently categorized under Cloud will be transitioned to the Hardware hierarchy once the changes on December 4 are implemented and synced. For more details on the updated mappings, refer below:
