Q1: What is a business agent license?

A: The business agent license is an add-on license available in Freshservice for business teams such as HR, Finance, Facilities, Legal, Admin, Sales, Marketing, etc. It costs $39 per agent per month and can be purchased on Pro and Enterprise plans. Learn more.


Q2: What is the difference between a business agent and an IT agent in Freshservice?

  • A business agent belongs to business teams such as HR, Facilities, Legal, Finance, and General and utilizes the business agent license within Freshservice.

  • The business agent license is available as a specialized add-on license for Pro and Enterprise plans.

  • Business agents can work on tickets within business workspaces (created using Business workspace templates). They will have only view access to tickets in IT workspaces (created using IT workspace template) and will be able to add private notes to tickets. 
  • An IT agent belongs to the IT team and utilizes the standard IT full-time license within Freshservice.

  • The IT agent license is available as a standard full-time license across all Freshservice plans such as Starter, Growth, Pro, and Enterprise.

  • IT agents can work on tickets in IT workspaces, as well as business workspaces.  





Q3: How does the business agent license free trial work?

A: As a Freshservice customer on Pro or Enterprise plans, you can try the business agent license free for 14 days. The option to initiate the free trial will be available within your Freshservice instance. During the trial, you can add up to 10 business agents using the free trial licenses. After the trial ends, the business licenses will expire, and the business agents will be converted to occasional agents.


Q4: What happens when the business agent license free trial ends?

A: After the free trial ends, the business licenses will expire, and the business agents will be converted to occasional agents. If you are an account admin, you will be able to see the trial expiry banner, which can be dismissed if you choose to.


Q5: Can I add more than 10 business agents or utilize more than 10 licenses during the free trial?

A: No, the free trial is limited to adding up to 10 business agents only. If you wish to add more business agents, you will need to purchase the business agent license as an add-on.


Q6: Can I extend the trial period beyond the 14-day mark?

A: No, the trial period cannot be extended. We encourage you to explore the full potential of the business agent license within the 14-day trial period. After the trial, you will need to purchase the license as an add-on.


Q7: Why are business agents converted to occasional agents when the trial ends?

A: When the trial ends, business agents are converted to occasional agents to ensure continuity in working on tickets. If business agents have been assigned tickets during the trial and they are converted to requesters, their tickets will remain unassigned. Converting them to occasional agents allows them to resume working on the tickets once the license is purchased.


Q8: What happens when I cancel my free trial before the 14-day trial expiry? 

A: If you cancel your free trial during the -day period, you will not be able to utilize business licenses and business agents will be converted to occasional agents. You will have to purchase business agent license(s) to resume working on tickets. 


Q9: Who can access the free trial of the business agent license?

A: Freshservice customers on the Pro or Enterprise plans with Workspaces enabled in their accounts, who have not yet purchased the business agent license as an add-on, will have the opportunity to try the business agent add-on for free.


Q10: Who can view and activate the free trial option for the business agent license?

A: Account admins on Pro and Enterprise plans will be able to view and activate the free trial option.


Q11: How can I activate the business agent free trial for my account?

A: To activate the free trial, go to the User Management section under Global settings, Workspace settings, or while creating a second workspace. The option to start the free trial will be displayed across these places in your Freshservice instance.
