As a part of this new upgrade, we will deprecate the Amazon Web Services ( Native AWS app) application from our marketplace on 31 May 2023.

Please uninstall the Amazon Web Services application and install the AWS Cloud discovery application by 31 May 2023  to avoid disruptions due to this deprecation.

Option 1

Steps involved:  Uninstalling the Amazon web Services app, deleting native AWS assets, installing  the new AWS Cloud discovery app, and discovering AWS cloud resources 

Choose this option for,

  • Quick switch to the New AWS Cloud discovery application.

  • Do not wish to retain AWS asset associations, relationships,  activity logs, and manually added AWS assets from the legacy app.

  • Prefer to track the AWS cloud asset information from scratch.

Option 2

25 -35 mins*

Steps involved: Uninstalling the Amazon web Services app, exporting native AWS assets, Importing the AWS assets to respective new asset types, and installing the new AWS Cloud Discovery app.

Choose this option if you wish to retain 

  •  AWS asset associations, relationships, activity logs, and manually added AWS assets from the legacy app.

*This time could vary with the number of AWS accounts


Option 1:

  1. Uninstall the Amazon Web Services app from the Marketplace. 

     

  2. Delete the assets under AWS in the hierarchy.

    a. Navigate to Assets > Inventory. In the hierarchy, select Cloud > AWS >  EC2 and delete all the assets of EC2.
    b. Repeat step a for RDS and EBS

     

    Note: The Asset page can display 50 assets at a time. Kindly make sure to perform the step on all assets.


  3. Install the AWS Cloud Discovery app.
     

      a.Navigate to Admin page > Cloud Management

      b.Install the AWS Cloud Discovery app 
      c. Add all your AWS accounts to the Configuration page

     


    d. Your process is complete when all your AWS accounts are successfully validated



Option 2:

  1. Uninstall the Amazon Web Services app.



  2. Skip this step if the new AWS Cloud Discovery app is not installed. Navigate to Admin > Cloud Management. A green tick mark indicates that the app is installed. Proceed to step 3 if the app is not installed.

    1. Navigate to Assets > Inventory. In the hierarchy, go to Cloud > Virtual Machine > AWS VM. Delete all the assets of type AWS VM.

    2. In the hierarchy, go to Cloud > Volume > AWS Disk. Delete all the assets of type AWS Disk.

    3. In the hierarchy, go to Cloud > Database > AWS RDS. Delete all the assets of type AWS RDS.

    4. Clear all these deleted assets from the trash as well. Clicking on the hamburger icon on the top left corner gives access to Trash.


  3. Export assets of types EC2, RDS, and then EBS

    1. Navigate to Cloud > AWS.

    2. While exporting, select all fields to export.

    3. Export the assets of types EC2, RDS, and then EBS in three separate CSV files. 

  4. Using the asset bulk edit option, change the asset types of all assets as follows -

    →  EC2 to AWS VM
    →  EBS to AWS Disk
    →  RDS to AWS RDS 

    Note: The Asset page can display 50 assets at a time. Kindly make sure to perform the step on all assets.

  5. Now Import all the exported assets from step 2. Navigate to Admin > Inventory > Import. Select the Asset Type to import and upload the CSV file.

    1. Choose how to Match Records in the CSV with assets in Freshservice. Map the records by the Display Name.


    2. Freshservice automatically maps the fields in your CSV based on the header in the CSV. The values of the first asset entry in the CSV file are also shown as an example next to the mapping.

    3. Review this mapping and make any changes as needed. Ensure the date format selected and the date format in the CSV match if you wish to update any date fields.

    4. While importing, please map the item ID with the unique identifiers below.

6. Install the AWS Cloud Discovery app.

                         a.Navigate to Admin page > Cloud Management.

                         b.Install the AWS Cloud Discovery app. 


                            


                          c.Add all your AWS accounts to the Configuration page.


                             

                           d.Your process is complete when all your AWS accounts are successfully validated.
